Sevanthood

Scripture

Mark 10:45 –—”For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Observation

Servanthood started with the life of Christ—the one who has shown us the meaning of a true servant. Jesus took the form of a man servant, while proclaiming the status as the Son of God  at the same time, choosing to serve rather than being served.  This is the example that we ought to live our lives as the embodiment of servanthood. When Jesus washed the disciples’ feet, we saw what a Christian attitude is supposed to be - humbling oneself, and meeting the immediate needs of others. The beautiful thing about Christ is his leading by example and showing the true life of a servant. No one could deny how Jesus serves because they saw it everyday. Our lives will be meaningful and with purpose if we are willing to give ourselves to the service of the Lord. Only then can we truly experience the abundant life God has for us.

Application

I need to show others the example of servanthood. I will not despise the small things of serving others by taking time to listen and provide the poor with a meal. I desire to take the opportunities that God provide to serve others so that I can honor Him.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that I can see Christ as the best example of demonstrating servanthood the way it is meant for me to live such a life. I am aware that serving others is one of the most effective ways to lead them to the Lord. Help me to show others Christ in me through my actions rather than my words. I pray all these in the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen!

The Body Of Christ

Scripture

Romans 12:4 - Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function.

Observation

Paul emphasized that for the body of Christ to work together, every member of the body has its own role to play. Every member of the body makes a valuable contribution although each has a different function. All members must co-operate toward  unity of the body.

Application

The church is a big family, every member has a work of service to do for the Lord. I want to thank God that I am in this big family. May the Lord help me so that I can be of service to Him. I want to let many people know the goodness and greatness to be His children.

Prayer

Dear Father in heaven, thank you for accepting me in this big family. Though I know I don’t deserve but still you never stop loving me. May you always remind me to serve you in a pleasing way. Help me and give me strength to do the work for you. Thank you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen!
