Scripture
Psalm 13:3 — “Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death”
Observation
David knew his vision was not clear, therefore he prayed to God to allow him to see so that he could understand the things that he couldn’t see with his naked eyes.
Humans do sleep at night where there is no sun and where the lights are off. David is awared that he would fall asleep in the dark - “poor vision”. The darkness will eventually lead him to spiritual death.
With the light from God, David knew that he would not sleep but he would gain insights and wisdom.
Application
God has given me the light through his word (the Bible). I shall come to the words of God so that I am given the light to my eyes.
Prayer
Dear heavenly Father, please give light to my eyes. Help me to see and understand the things that are far beyond my naked eyes could see.
Awake me if I fall asleep in the darkness. My spirit shall not sleep nor be distracted by the evil ones who work in the dark.
