Detox Your Mind
Scripture
Proverbs 4:23 - Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
Observation
We hear a lot about detoxifying our physical bodies. Due to the polluted air we breathe, the highly processed food and impure water we put into our bodies daily, and the toxins generated from within the body, experts recommend that we go through a deep cleansing periodically to rid ourselves of these toxins.
In the same way, toxins can build up in our minds. That is, if we go around dwelling on wrong/negative thoughts, thinking about what we can’t do, or how some people hurt us, these thoughts are toxic…it gets into our hearts and eventually contaminates our lives which ultimately affects our self-image, attitude and confidence. That’s why the Bible tells us that we have to guard our hearts and minds above all else because if our minds gets polluted, our whole life is going to be polluted.
Application
Periodically I do detox my body but I should make the decision to go on a “fast” from negative, self-defeating thoughts. Cleanse my mind from what is harmful and fill myself with thoughts of faith and victory. As I do, those good thoughts should & will strengthen and empower me to live the good life He has planned for me! Amen?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come to You today willing to let go of anything that would hold me back from Your great promises. Help me to guard my thoughts and fill my heart with Your Word. May my words, actions and thoughts be right in Your sight. Thank you, Father, For in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
