  • Trust in the Lord FOR..

    (Entry Date : Mar 25th, 2011)

    Scripture

Psalm 21:7 — FOR the king trusts in the Lord; (And if I may quote a key word … “FOR”)

    Observation

As you read the sentence above, emphasize on the word “FOR”; read it a few times, pause after the word “FOR” … because there lies many reasons why king David trusts in the Lord and rejoices in His strength!

FOR … great is king David’s joy in the victories God gave.
FOR … God has granted king David his heart’s desire.
FOR … God has not withheld the request from king David’s lips.
FOR … God greeted king David with rich blessings.
FOR … God placed a crown of pure gold on king David’s head.
FOR … when king David asked for life, God gave him length of days, forever and ever.
FOR … God gave king David victories thus God’s glory is great.
FOR … God bestowed on king David splendor and majesty.
FOR … God granted king David unending blessings.
FOR … God made king David glad with the joy of His presence.

Overwhelming! As a result of trusting God and His strength, king David has been blessed with all the above and more!

    Application

The book of Psalms has opened me to more of king David, his struggles and victories. He is as human as you and I, albeit living in different era. Each of the chapters thus far started with him lamenting, then finally exalting the Lord His God. Sounds familiar to me. And this particular scripture stands out now when I am going through moments where I need to decibel my lamentations, and trust God and His strength. Not easy but at least I try, with the live example of king David.

    Prayer

Dear Lord, as king David prayed “Be exalted in your strength; Lord we will sing and praise your might.” ... so will I pray this day “Be exalted in your strength; Lord I will sing and praise your might (noun) … regardless whatever might (verb).” Amen!
