  • "I Will Bring You Back"

    (Entry Date :November 13th, 2011)

    Scripture

Isaiah 54:7 –For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion
    I will bring you back.

    Observation

The people of God seem to be forsaken by him when he hides his face from them, as it is afterwards explained; when they are in distress, and he does not immediately appear for them; when they are afflicted in body and mind, though these afflictions are but for a moment; nor are they really forsaken, not as to things temporal or spiritual; God never forsakes the work of his own hands, nor his people, at least for ever, or so as that they shall perish.

    Application

Our God is a compassionate God. He will not abandon us, no matter what. If He is for us, who can be against us!

    Prayer

Dear Lord, in moments when I am weak, You are always there for me, with me and
carrying me through. Thank you for BEING THERE for me. Amen.

    My God Is Always Faithful

    (Entry Date :July 24th, 2011)

    Scripture

Psalm 100:5 – For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness
    continues through all generations.

    Observation

An exhortation to praise God, and rejoice in him, no matter what happens, in down or up times.

    Application

    • Great encouragement is given us, in worshipping God, to do it cheerfully.
    • We have abundant cause to bless His name.

    Prayer

    Dear God,
Wherever I am and whenever it may be, let my lips be filled with praise for You. You alone deserve all praises and worship.

    Keep His Commands

    (Entry Date :June 12th, 2011)

    Scripture

Ps 78:7 - "Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands."

    Observation

Humans have the tendency to rebel and go his own way - in the past, at present and will always be. Wherever God strikes sinners down, they would turn to God but soon went back to the old ways. God has proven He is forgiving and patience, but it cannot go on. Through Jesus, whom we must accept as personal Lord and Saviour, God is urging and remind that we must put our trust in Him, not forget His deeds and keep His commands.

    Application

Jesus may be back already if I consider 2 Pet 3:8 "... With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." I must stop thinking that I still have time because in 2 Pet 2:10, "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare." There is no more time to play with fire. The time to get intimate with God and follow Him is NOW!

    Prayer

Dear Jesus, all else will become nothing if I am not walking in Your will. Show me and guide me in these last days that I will keep Your commands and trust in You. Amen.

    Depend On God Alone

    (Entry Date : October 11th, 2009)

    Scripture

Genesis 11:6 - The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.

    Observation

In Gen 11, the people began to come together and compelled to do something to satisfy their emptiness, by building “great structures” – something difficult yet challenging.

But isn’t the progress good for mankind?  Why God didn’t want them to let men accomplish the things they wanted to do ….. That is why God decided to confuse their languages and segregate all the people so that they do not glory in themselves ever again.

    Application

It may seem good for mankind to achieve something ambitious and nobody else has done before, and in the process … became self glorifying.  Is this what God wants?  Are there better things that God wants us to achieve than our personal desires?

God wants me to ground my foundations on Him alone as well as my substance.

What we desire may not be what God’s will for me! Seek God earnestly for His will in my life.

    Prayer

Dear God, may my life be holy and acceptable to You.  Mold me and make me so that I have nothing to prove, nothing to lose and nothing to hide. Amen

Fear God And Keep His Commandments

    Scripture

Ecclesiastes 12:13 - Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

    Observation

How true it is of today that many authors have written “great books” that motivate and tried to interpret what God’s Word “actually” meant. Why can’t Christians take God’s Word as it is in the Bible – literally from the Bible directly? Why we believers always try to put our limited mindset and thinking to try to interpret God’s thoughts?  Are we really able to fathom God’s ways and know what He actually thinks?

God is calling His people to remember His goodness and keep following Him. God’s Word is simple and straight forward and His instruction to us is simple – Fear God and keep His commandments!

    Application

God’s Word is a lamp upon my feet and the light to my path – to guide me and show me the correct direction. It is also where I can find refuge, comfort and guidance to my questions. In God’s Word, I will always find the answers to the questions in my heart. Many times, I may not understand His ways, but I can trust Him that His ways are always the best for me.

    Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank You for reminding me again that Your Word is always there to show me Your ways and Your will for me. I will place my trust and confidence in You and Your Word. Amen.
